I am a London based professional journalist specialized in Sicily and Italy writing about current affairs, culture, food and lifestyle.
I am a contributor with media such as Mail On Sunday, Daily Mail, BBC Online and BBC Radio (WATO/PM and The Food Programme) with research activities to assist in the creation of engaging radio interviews and TV programmes.
I write in Italian for the "Rapporto Italiani nel Mondo" by Fondazione Migrantes. In 2018 I have written about Italian homeless people in London; in 2017 about Sicilians abroad and about Italians in UK prisons; in 2016 I focused my interest on the Italian-Bangladeshi community in London.
I write articles in Italian for a variety of online newspapers such as Londra Italia, LiveSicilia, Resto al Sud and I partecipate in discussions on NTV Europe, Soho Radio, Hoxton Radio and on the national Italian radio station Kiss Kiss. I have been published on The Guardian, Gambero Rosso and Huffington Post Italia.
In Catania (Sicily) I worked in the press agency Italpress and in the regional TV channel Telecolor: one of my reports was shortlisted for the prestigious Ilaria Alpi award. Furthermore, the TV channel received the ‘Best Italian Local News Programe of the Year’ award while I was working there. You can watch some of my video reports here.
For one year I covered Economics on Radio Catania: click here to listen to the programme.
Previously I was a freelance contributor for local newspapers such as Giornale Di Sicilia, La Sicilia, Vivere, Eventi, Cult Magazine, and I worked for three years at the weekly newspaper published by the Archdiocese of Catania Prospettive.
My career as a journalist started while I was a student: aged 17 I won my first mobile phone as a prize in a school journalism award, writing a book review.
